My Marathon for Dad’s Heart

This July, I’m running the Gold Coast Marathon for someone incredibly important to me — my dad.

Despite being active, lean, and healthy his whole life, my dad recently had a small heart attack. What followed was quintuple bypass open-heart surgery to fix serious blockages most likely caused by genetics.

He pulled through and is now on the road to recovery — and we’re incredibly lucky he’s still here. But the experience opened my eyes: heart disease doesn’t just affect people with unhealthy habits. Sometimes, it’s hidden in our DNA. And sometimes, even the fittest people need help they never expected.

That’s why I’m running — to raise awareness about heart health and to raise funds for the Heart Foundation.

Every kilometre I run is for the people who can't — for those recovering, those fighting, and those we’ve lost.
