My Dad passed away suddenly in 2014 from heart disease that had gone unnoticed. Since then I have participated in MyMarathon to help raise money for the important research that the Heart Foundation does. One resource that has been developed is the Calcium Scoring Scan.
End of last year I discovered that I had extremely high blood pressure due to stress. I went to my doctor to get it checked and he sent me to get a Calcium Scoring Scan. When we got the results, unfortunately it was not good news. I was told that I was at very high risk of having a heart attack or stroke within the next 5 years. Shocking news but at the same time I am extremely grateful that I have found out in time to fix it.
Now I have completely changed my lifestyle and I want to do a challenge that will raise more money and awareness about this silent killer.
I will be walking 112kms with my son from Perth (my hometown) to Boddington (my Dad’s hometown)
