THE PROJECT??? using nordic ski technique to ski the equivalent distance from Perth2Sydney. A distance of 4500kms. It starts on June1 (first day of winter) and planned to finish at the end of October.
It will be a combination of Ski-Blading on Canberra's bicycle paths, nordic skiing on Perisher nordic trails as well as touring on light skis in Kosciuszko National Park backcountry visiting huts/peaks or just having fun.
WHY?? To demonstrate that a healthy active life improves quality of life. Exercise is a principal component of a healthy balanced quality lifestyle.

Meet Nic!
Nic BENDELI is a young 70year old.
He is a highly untalented athlete who had to train three times as much as his friends to obtain the same results !! His goal as a teenager was to run one lap of a standard 400m oval without stopping or pulled out during PE cross country runs because he was too slow. Eventually with persistent training and having fun, he now manages to complete multiple ultra-marathons.
Nic has a highly active and mobile lifestyle. He enjoys activities such as bushwalking, skiing (most types), rock climbing, mountaineering, canyoning, traveling, sea-kayaking, trail running, cycling, weight lifting, triathlons. In passive times he uses his sewing machine to repair/create "stuff" for the outdoors, chess, photography, reading and movies.
Nic strongly believes that the mantra "Mens Sana in Corpore Sano" (Juvenal 1st Century AD) mixed with everything in moderation (Socrates 4th Century BCE) which he followed for decades, has given him the mobility and resilience of someone much much younger.
You too can do the same. It is never too late to engage in the path of health and well-being in moderation
See you on the bike paths or having fun in Kosciuszko. When you see me moving around, do say hello or gently toot your horn a couple of times to show recognition and raise my smile in appreciation :))
