Exciting things happening!
Nearly 2 months in and I am feeling so strong. I've been out at Fringe Festival, I've danced, I've seen a comedy show and have felt strong the whole time. The alcohol free options that are available have made it easier, where you don't have to make any excuses. There is some amazing fundraiser events happening over this year, so keep following my page and my socials and help me to reach my goalOff to a good start!
13 days in and feeling good so far. I’m meeting with the Heart Foundation next week to work out the finer details but for now it’s pretty straightforward - I’m alcohol free and aiming to raise $50000 for the Heart Foundation.I’m quitting alcohol to Do if for Heart!
It’s time for a change! My Dad died suddenly from undiagnosed heart disease in 2014. Since then I have completed MyMarathon 6 years in a row and raised money that has helped to create the Calcium Scoring Scan. Late 2021, I was referred by my GP to have this scan after discovering that I had extremely high blood pressure. I felt fine, however the scan showed that I had the arterial health of an 81 year old and was at very high risk of dying from a heart attack or heart disease within the next 2-5 years. Plainly speaking, without that scan I would be dead. Instead I am fitter, stronger and healthier than ever and I want as many people to have access to this life saving technology.
Heart disease remains Australia’s biggest killer, claiming 48 lives every day. Your donation will help the Heart Foundation to transform Australia’s heart health by:
