Join us this Heart Week
Did you know, one Australian has a heart attack or stroke every 4 minutes? You have the power to change this statistic by booking a Heart Health Check with your GP today.
This year, the Heart Foundation Walking and Community Fundraising teams are working together during Heart Week to remind you and your walking group of the importance of having a heart health check. A Heart Health Check is a routine 20-minute check up with your GP to assess your risk of having a heart attack or stroke in the next five years. Importantly, you will be able to take immediate steps to lower your risk of heart disease.

You may know people in your walking group who are living with heart disease or have had their lives greatly impacted by it. We would love to get this message out far and wide and we’re calling on our groups to host a simple fundraiser this Heart Week (2-8 May) and share our messaging. We do acknowledge that so many of our groups raise funds for us throughout the year, which we are infinitely thankful for!
Our Community Fundraising Team has lots of ideas and downloadable resources for you to use for your event.
To get started here a few ideas;
- Host a Heart Week Walk by wearing red and giving a gold coin donation
- Host a gold coin donation morning tea after your walk
