We are Meg and Tom, two Aussies adventuring on two wheels throughout Patagonia, South America. We are riding 5000km from Santiago, Chile, to Ushuaia, Argentina, the most southern city in the world. We’re taking on this challenge to Do it for Heart!
A year and a half ago, Meg's dad, Steve Thomas, died from ischaemic heart disease. He was active, fit, and loved cycling and being outdoors. We often rode together, and even crossed the line of the 170km Tour Down Under Challenge ride in 2020 as a group of three. He was always supportive and curious of our adventures, and when we first dreamt up this trip, years ago, the plan was always for him to join us on the road!
Dad had too much life left to live. Ischaemic heart disease takes suddenly and without warning. We’re passionate about saving Australian Hearts and need your help to create change. That’s why we're fundraising for the Heart Foundation – and we hope you’ll support us in this.
Heart disease remains Australia’s biggest killer, claiming 48 lives every day. Your donation will help the Heart Foundation to transform Australia’s heart health by:
